America moving closer to 15% ethanol in gasoline

We are a step closer to using gasoline mixed with 15% ethanol. The testing is complete and vehicles 2001 and newer have been cleared to burn 15% ethanol without damaging the engine, and hoses. This will increase our fuel supply and hopefully help drive down the price of oil. Another alternative fuel that has great potential–in the research stage now, is mixed-alcohol biofuel.
Maverick biofuels, located in Chapel Hill North Carolina (near the research triangle park, the nation’s largest), is developing this fuel. Mixed-alcohol bio-fuel has 86% of the energy of gasoline, compared to ethanol’s 66%.
Easy Energy system has developed an ethanol processing plant that is made in modules. This is a great breakthrough because a company can set up modules depending on the amount of bio-mass available in that area. The plant is portable and can be trucked to the site or shipped by rail. Easy Energy system–the manufacturer, will set up the plant using their experts and expertise.
The unique flexibility of this plant means that one module could be set up in a hamlet, or 100 modules set up in New York City. One module will produce 500.000 to one million gallons per year.100 modules will produce one hundred million gallons per year. So the tonnage of bio-mass: corn stalks, sawdust, leaves and clippings from local, state and national parks–along with garbage–which is 90% cellulose, and municipal waste–will make up this second generation waste stream of bio-mass. Easy energy’s plant can be used to produce corn ethanol or cellulosic and other bio-mass waste streams such as garbage–which is 90% cellulose, and municipal waste.
Mixed-alcohol biofuel can be burned in a flex-fuel engine without mixing it with gasoline. This fuel can be made from corn stalks, switch grass, saw dust, garbage–which is 90% cellulose, and municipal waste streams. This bio-mass is waste that would normally be put in a garbage dump, except switch grass and corn stalks.
Producing fuel from this waste stream of bio-mass will allow the company to make mixed-alcohol bio-fuel for $1.25 per gallon—add $1.00 for profit and taxes and we can buy it for $2.25 a gallon. It is estimated that if we use the 90% of garbage that is cellulose and municipal waste, we can make 50% of the fuel America needs to run our country everyday–and we can get off foreign oil. Another major benefit–if implemented across the united states is it will create hundreds of thousands of Jobs. And we will have a good mix–from lower unskilled to mid and upper income jobs.
The country entered this recession when gas prices spun out of control and the housing market fell apart. Keeping the money we send out of this country to pay for foriegn oil, will be an immediate stimulus to the economy—and if we convert garbage and municipal waste into bio-fuel, America could probably employ one million people in the bio-fuels industry and spin off another one and one half million other jobs because of these new employees purchasing power. This will almost restore half of those eight million jobs we need to get our country back to 5 to 6% unemployment.
Other businesses will be developed in support of the bio-fuels industry. This will be a total of two and one half million jobs. The bio-fuels seed money will come from the 700 billion we spend on foreign oil. It is time America did something bold about our energy problem. It has been too long that we have wandered in the desert without a real energy policy.
